Merry Christmas 2013

Home for the Holidays: I spent Christmas 2012 in Rice Lake and we had a great time at our traditional Ice Fishing outing. Molly and Brother Jamie hauled in a couple big northern and Maria Fae fell in love with Matt Visger. Where was the 24hr breaking in period? I think the break in period for women it is an inverse function of height, age and good looks.

I was Robbed:  No really! While I was in Rice Lake for Christmas thieves broke in to the house and stole Christmas. They took most of the presents from under the tree, and nothing else. Yes!, hard to believe, I had a tree!? The police thought I was making it up.

Third time is the Charm,,,, NOT!: In 2011 the Badgers lost the Rose bowl to TCU. In 2012 they lost to the Ducks, and in 2013 they lost to Stanford. Tim Hovde the boys and I were at all three. What are we going to do on New Year’s this year? Maybe go to Dallas to see the Rebels. Like they will ever see a bowl again?

Out of the Cold: The snow birds Mom, Bruce, Sharron and Eric made the annual trip to Vegas. I always make out in that deal as it is over my birthday. As the Chronotype social section would say. “A good time was had by all”

Slam-O-Rama XXVIII: dan and I made the trip back to Mikana for the 28th annual Slam-O-Rama. I am still waiting for the all indoor event Slammer. Congratulations Tony Williger, and thanks to the 5 die hard’s last year for keeping the streak alive. Hope to see you this year.

Get a haircut and get a real job: I was a hippy freak and donated my hair to Locks of Love. Now I have to get a real job, like my big brother Bob.

Setenta: My fishing buddy turned 70 this year. You may know him as Kim’s Charron’s Dad, Bob Frank. He is holding a custom cake by an aspiring chef friend JillianWells.

Pigs and Paella: The Memorial Day pig roast was a hit. Mike Fenocchi made the most awesome Paella and some custom beer for the occasion. The beer was awesome and short lived. I never had Paella before, but now I’m a big fan. Next year more craft beer a performance from the Taiko Drumming group and an open Mic. So practice up you’ve got talent.

Scuttled Trip: I wanted to get back for the Wisconsin fishing opener, but the lakes were still covered in ICE? I was planning a fishing trip with Scotty a bit later but the flight got canceled. Just as well as I got deathly ill for the whole weekend. Better here than while traveling.

My kind of Business Meeting: Las Vegas Color requested my presence at a business meeting at the Tetu fishing camp in the Lake of the Woods, Ontario Canada. Big fish, Big lake no cabins lots of fish, sun, eagles, vitals, and good company.

College Reunion: The Madison boys got together at Mike Borchardt’s cabin in Minocqua. It was great to get on the water and see good friends. I also got to hang with my Sister Leslie and the Family in Eagle River next town over.  Their house remodel is beautiful and impressive. We did movie, and ice cream with the family after watching Jenna work at the boat transfer.

Taking a Break: Cousins Sharon and Eric came to visit, and hang with their daughter Kirsten. They took a break Minnesota and it is always nice to have family around.

Jonny Utah: Boys only weekend at Dan’s cabin in Duck Creek. Participants Dan, myself, Mike, Yamata, and Takuma Fenocchi. Yamata out fished us all. Deer, Turkeys, Fishing, 4 wheeling, and Pizza what more can you ask for?

We got robbed: (DejaVu)  Brothers Burt, Bruce, Dan, Roger and cousin Pat Votruba endured the 110F heat to watch the Badgers loose the controversial game to ASU. Thanks Pat for organizing the outing.

The Aleut great lands Alaska God: I made it point to get back this year. Thanks again to Tim Hovde and the host Paul Vick. Congratulations on bagging your Grizzly this year Paul.  I also took some time to visit my Godson Connor his sisters Jessica and Madison in Redmond WA.

G2E Boys: Mitja and Roger logged here for the G2E convention again this year. I put Mitja to work on the Barbie and making espresso. It is always good to see old friends.  Mitja visited a friend in LA while Roger, Dan and I went to Duck Creek.

PhotoMy baby bunting, daddy’s going hunting: Originally we didn’t draw this year but we all eventually got a tag as hunters dropped out. We took advantage, while only hunting 3 days Paul Rose got his fork on the drive into to camp, Jeff chose shew several small bucks off the camp site, and take a fork a day later. I popped a small 3 by 2, and Kris while knocking the rust off and managed to scare a lot of deer. Sorry Kris it is in the Bro Code that we have to give you a hard time. Maybe next year you come with us to sight in the rifles. I managed to see John Giannini for a second as he was hunting near the Wild Horse fishing hole. Fishing was awesome camping was cold real cold. I brought the Treasure to the camp site for ribs and steaks. Question: How old is too old to sleep in a tent?

Hale Hale the gangs all here: The whole Fam Damly went back to Rice Lake for Thanksgiving, Burt, Lynn plus 4, Dan, Kim plus2, Leslie, John plus 3, Roger, Angie plus 2, Bruce plus 2, and little old me. There were about 40 of us catching up on each other’s lives and putting down the vitals. Lots of cousins playing stick ball in the back yard at 2 degrees.

Haugen Fun League:  Thanks to Cousin Pat for bring the commissioner of our quasi family fantasy football league again.

New to the Christmas Card list: Aubrey Jeane Cole, 3# 1.9 ounces, 15 3/4 inches first Granddaughter for Scott and Brenda Visger as of 8/2213. She gave everyone a scare but is doing great now. Garrett MacLocghlin, Carl and Karen Hofman’s first Grandson as of 12/19/12, and the newest addition Victoria Jubber, Marcus and Angela’s first on 12/15/13.

I think, therefore I’m single.
